New Year, New You

New Year, New You

Aaaaaah, 2020! New year, new you; right? It is incredibly cliche but what a nice ring the phrase possesses. There is a reset, restart, blank slate, take on the world feeling!

Personally, I love the new year and the spunk it brings out in people. I love all the talk of goals and aspirations and not just those pertaining to their fitness and health. Personal goals of growth in their marriage, finances, faith and family.

Don’t worry yall, this blog is not about how to set SMART goals or 5 steps to dominate your 2020 dreams. I want to simply talk about the why behind the what. The driver of our desires will identify exactly what is in our heart.

Seek His will in all you do, and He will show you which path to take. Proverbs 3:6

Do you want to save money and spend less? Why? To put more in savings or do something that will glorify God with what he has given you?

Do you want to lose weight? Why? To model a healthier lifestyle for your family or drown in vanity?

Do you want to change jobs? Why? To be faithful to what the Lord has called you to or do gain a promotion or title?

Do you want to run a marathon (me!) or a triathlon? Why? For bragging rights or to honor the body the good Lord gave you?

The why will also be the variable that perpetuates your perseverance. Chasing a 6-pack seems thrilling in January, but unless it’s God ordained, the endless chocolate treats will be a much more appealing option come February 14th.

Review your 2020 aspirations and simply ask yourself:

Did I seek the Lord first in these goals?

Do these goals glorify him?

Are these goals Kingdom minded?

Lastly, if you haven’t set any goals for this year what are you waiting for?! At 413 we believe we can do all things through him who strengthens us and we would love to talk to you about your why. We never take a 12 step, detox, supplement, cookie cutter approach in our guided goal setting. Your journey is unique and your story is being written by the most ingenious author! Let 2020 be the year you step into it!

But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Matthew 6:33
